LEADING THE WAY IN PERSONAL SERVICES

Hosting a Spring Bank Holiday Party

The flurry of Spring bank holidays has begun, with two more just around the corner. The extra day gives ample opportunity to host a party, cocktail hour or intimate luncheon. However, organising a gathering for friends can be intimidating if you don’t know where to start. How do you choose a menu? What about the table decorations? There is a lot to think about, but these helpful tips will make your event run smoothly so you can enjoy time with your guests.

When deciding on a menu, it is important to choose food that you are comfortable with. Food that you enjoy and like to eat will make it much more enjoyable for everyone. If you are preparing the food yourself, it is far easier to make as much as you can ahead of time. Spend the afternoon doing all the prep so that when your guests arrive you aren’t squirreled away in the kitchen, but are able to socialise and enjoy a well earned drink. However, if you are hiring a chef from Galor, discuss with the chef ahead of time to agree on your dream menu. They will be able to advise you on what is in season, what they think will work well for your event and what is within budget. Make sure to let them know of any dietary requirements before the big day!

Not only is the food important but so is the atmosphere and decorations. At this time of year there is an abundance of flowers, blossom and greenery on the trees that can all be used to adorn the table. Utilise old jam jars, milk bottles and vases of different heights full of flowers to add colour and vibrancy to your dinner. Candles are a great addition to help set the ambience, tea lights are readily available in most supermarkets and don’t cost the earth. Don’t forget about the little things like name cards, linen napkins and salt and pepper dishes. All the small touches will make your guests feel welcome and at home.

It is a great idea to have a few games up your sleeve or better still ask your guests to come with a game to play. It is a good way to break up the courses and have a breather before the feasting continues. It also helps the guests chatting and allows them to get to know one another, if they aren’t already acquainted. Some favourite suggestions are; Charades, Pictionary or Who Am I?

Hopefully these tips will make your event a roaring success. But should you any questions about hiring staff for your event, the team at Galor would be more than happy to help!
